BDPD Encourages Safe Ride Program, Taxi Services To Get Home For Bars

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Police Department say there are several available resources for citizens to get home safely from bars and taverns. Sergeant Jeremiah Johnson says the Beaver Dam taxi service has extended hours throughout the weekend. He says they run from 6am to 2:30am on Fridays, 8am to 2:30am on Saturdays, and 8am to 8pm on Sundays. Johnson notes that the taxi service also makes more cabs available during peak travel times including the evening hours. The service will take patrons anywhere within a five-mile radius of Beaver Dam.

Johnson says there are other options available for those who need to travel a little further. He says Uber and Lyft do have drivers available in the city and routinely seeโ€™s bar patrons being picked up by the transportation services.

Johnson also recommends utilizing the Tavern League of Wisconsinโ€™s SafeRide program. During a recent Community Comment, Johnson said local celebrity Safe Ride Ron is available to all Dodge County citizens to get them home safely after a night out drinking. He says all bartenders have his number which is 920-392-9915.

Johnson says police will stop someone if they are spotted stumbling to their vehicle. He says many taverns in the city request police presence at closing time to prevent incidents such as bar fights.
