The Beaver Dam boys basketball team won their first Regional championship since the 2017 season with a 77-64 win over Grafton on Saturday night at the BDHS Fieldhouse.
The Golden Beavers (14-12) jumped out to a 40-28 lead at the break and held off numerous Grafton attempts to get back into the game in the 2nd half. Brady Helbing led BD with 25 while Ty Bunksoke added 21 and Alex Soto 12. Michael McNabb paced Grafton (10-16) with 24.
The last time that Beaver Dam qualified for the Sectional was back in 2017 when they dropped a 57-54 Sectional Semifinal to Cedarburg at Hartford.
Beaver Dam will travel to Plymouth on Thursday night for a WIAA Division Two Sectional Semifinal against Nicolet High School. That’s a game you can hear on 1430 WBEV and watch on DailyDodge TV presented by Columbus Family Dental and the Beaver Dam Unified School District.
