(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Area Community Theater will be celebrating 60 years in 2024.
To celebrate, the theater has a slew of special events lined up, including a Mainstage Series. As part of the series, a new musical titled “Brand New Life: A Dust Bowl Musical” will be making its debut. Managing Director David Alan Smith:
“It’s a story about the people who were kind of duped by the government into getting really cheap land in Oklahoma back in the 1930s, and they went out there and knew nothing about farming.” says Smith. “And they cut the trees down, and the wind came, and the dust made it all the way to Washington D.C. it was so bad.”
Smith says many people struggled during that time but ended up surviving. “Brand New World: A Dust Bowl Musical” will be hitting the stage April 5th through the 14th.
