BDACT To Break Ground On New Theater Next Month

10/26/17 – The Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre will officially break ground on their new theatre next month. Fundraising Co-Chair Annette Kamps, a founding members of the non-profit, made that announcement this week on WBEVโ€™s Community Comment. She says ground will be broken on Monday, November 20. Kamps says that completion is anticipated next year, either in the summer or fall. The $2.5-million-dollar project involves renovating the former St. Patrickโ€™s Elementary School into a handicapped-accessible theatre. There would be an increase of almost 10-thousand square feet compared to their current location, plus seating in the main auditorium would increase from 220 to 350. Kamps says another $200-to-$300-thousand still needs to be raised. There is currently matching grant from Bob Keller for $100,000 which means any donation to the new building will be doubled. People can sponsor seats for either $600 or $750 dollars depending on location. Granite floor tiles can be inscribed for $900 dollars apiece. Finally, a name can be enshrined on a donor board in the lobby for $1000 dollars. For more information on the project and on donating, you can visit www.bdact.org.
