Plan Commission Approves Beaver Dam Rotary Riverwalk Park

10/26/17 – Beaver Dam is one step closer to having another park. The city’s Plan Commission on Wednesday approved the dedication of land in the downtown Tower Parking Lot as the Beaver Dam Rotary Riverwalk Park. The service organization has been working for years to enhance the stretch along the Beaver Dam River, investing around $50-thousand dollars to date. The Rotary Club’s Dan Larson says plans for the green space in the short term include a walking path, benches and trees. A pavilion is part of the long-term plans. The most recent investment is the installation of outdoor musical equipment. The xylophone will join drums and a couple other large outdoor musical devices in the park. The instruments come courtesy of a $10-thousand-dollar donation from city residents Tom and Judy Heffron.  The Parks Department is installing those items this week. If approved by the council one sign for the park would be located off Mill Street and the other off Center Street. The full common council will vote on the parks designation at their first meeting in November.
