(BEAVER DAM) The Beaver Dam Area Community Foundation has awarded over $350,000 to local nonprofits since its inception six years ago. Through the Foundation’s Community Fund and the Beaver Dam Unified School District Education Fund, the organization has given out $352,000.
President Tom Heffron says the Foundation was built on the idea that local giving creates local impact.
The Community Fund is offered through two competitive grant cycles each year ranging from $500 to $2,500. Its goal is to address community needs and strengthen the capacity of local nonprofits. So far, the Community Fund has distributed $309,000.
The Education Fund was designed to enhance educational opportunities by providing grant awards beyond the district’s allocated resources. Money has gone towards classroom enhancements and innovating student experiences. The Education Fund has awarded $43,000 to date.
