Authorities Identify Person Killed In Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Horicon

(Horicon) Authorities have identified the person killed following a multi-vehicle crash late last month near Horicon. The Wisconsin State Patrol, who lead the investigation, says 22-year-old Gavin Rivas from Orfordville died from his injuries. On July 30th, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office was called to County Highway E east from State Highway 26 around 6:50pm. The investigation revealed that a Chrysler Sedan driving by 35-year-old Dustin VanderGalien of Beaver Dam had crossed the centerline, striking a Chevrolet Equinox. The Chevrolet was occupied by 34-year-old Regina Alexaieff of North Fund du Lac who was the driver, 39-year-old Kevin Kutz from Slinger and a 12-year-old girl from Gillman. The Chrysler then struck a Ford Focus which had been traveling behind the Chevrolet. 21-year-old Blake Mejaki from Mayville was operating the Ford, Rivas was the front passenger while 22-year-old Dustin Fredrick from Iron Ridge and a 16-year-old female from Mayville were the back passengers. Alexaieff was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Kutz and the 12-year-old passenger did not sustain any injuries. Mejaki was flown by MedFlight to UW Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while Fredrick and the 16-year-old passenger were taken to Aurora Summit Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. VanderGalien was flown to UW-Hospital with life-threatening injuries and was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle While under the Influence of an Intoxicant. Charges are still pending the investigation.
