Appleton Man Sentenced For Fleeing From Beaver Dam Police

Pao Yang entered a plea of no contest to a felony charge of Fleeing Causing Damage To Property.

A license plate camera reader alerted officers of a stolen vehicle that sped off Highway 151 near Highway W in the township of Beaver Dam in May.

A traffic pursuit was initiated which reached speeds of 103-miles-per-hour during the 6.2-mile chase. Eventually, the chase was terminated when police lost sight of the suspect.

A short time later, dispatch received a call from a homeowner reporting a vehicle that had struck a tree on Well Road in the town of Lowell. Authorities learned that it was the same stolen vehicle Beaver Dam officers were pursuing. The driver, identified as Yang, had a warrant out for his arrest.

The vehicle was a stolen rental and was equipped with an electronic license plate flipper.

The 36-year-old was taken by Flight for Life to Aurora Medical Center in Summit for significant injuries. Yang was also placed on extended supervision for a year-and-a-half.
