Alsum Farms Offers $1,000 Scholarships to Help Rural Seniors Build Futures in Agriculture

(FRIESLAND) High school seniors across rural Wisconsin could get a financial boost toward college this fall thanks to a new scholarship program from Alsum Farms & Produce.

The Friesland-based grower and shipper is awarding ten $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors who come from an agriculture or rural background, or who plan to study agriculture at a community college, university or technical school. The goal is to help students take the next step toward careers that support farming and rural communities.

Students must live in an area where Alsum Farms & Produce grows or packs crops and be on track to graduate this spring. Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on academics, involvement in agriculture, community or youth organizations, and written essays.

โ€œWe are proud to be able to invest in future leaders in agriculture and our rural communities,โ€ said Heidi Alsum-Randall, the companyโ€™s chief operating officer. She said the company hopes recipients will continue working in Wisconsin agriculture or related industries.

Applications are open now and must be submitted online by March 15. Paper or emailed applications will not be accepted. Full details and the application link are available on the companyโ€™s website.

Alsum Farms & Produce is a family-owned, vertically integrated operation headquartered in Friesland. The company grows, packs and ships Wisconsin potatoes and other produce, with a focus on sustainability and soil stewardship.
