(Beaver Dam) People living with diabetes or pre-diabetes can improve their health by joining a Healthy Living with Diabetes workshop sponsored by the Dodge County Aging and Disability Resource Center.
The program has been researched and proven that participants have a 53 percent reduction in emergency department visits. In just six weekly sessions, the workshop gives participants strategies for managing diabetes including techniques to communicate with family and friends and health professionals, practicing healthy eating and nutrition, relaxation techniques and exercise for fitness and fun and how to cope with stress and depression, as well as goal setting and problem solving.
In those six weeks, participants will also be able to learn to take charge of their health and get back to doing the things that matter to them.
Today, there are over 406,000 people living with diabetes according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A diabetes diagnosis brings changes, and it is important to find solutions that work for you.
Healthy Living with Diabetes will be held on Tuesdays beginning September 10 through October 15 from 1pm to 3pm at the SSM Health Clinic located at 130 Corporate Dr. in Beaver Dam.
The workshop is free of cost, with a suggested donation of $10. For more information or to register for the program, contact the ADRC at 920-386-3580.
