12-Year-Old Killed After UTV Accident In Columbia County

(Leeds) A 12-year-old was killed following a UTV accident in the Township of Leeds Sunday. Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on County Highway DM just after 6pm. The initial reports to law enforcement indicated that a 12-year-old girl was trapped under the UTV and that family members had already extricated her from the vehicle. They had also begun performing lifesaving medical care including CPR. Once first responders arrived on scene, they continued lifesaving measures. The juvenile was transported to UW Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Sheriff Roger Brandner says the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource Wardens were also requested and responded directly to the scene. He says the investigation was turned over to the Wisconsin DNR. The name of the child will not be released. Brandner says this is a very tragic and traumatic accident and an extremely emotional time for the family, friends, and the first responders who tried to save her life. He says their thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends that are mourning her death.
