Worker At Didion Milling Falls 30 Feet From Catwalk Into Dryer

(Cambria) A worker at Didion Milling in Cambria was injured after falling approximately 30 feet from a catwalk into a corn dryer. Cambria Fire requested assistance from the Madison Fire Department Heavy Urban Rescue Team and the Beaver Dam Fire Department’s Tactical Rescue Team Saturday morning around 9:30am. The worker, who had fallen onto metal grates, was conscious but had sustained significant injuries. Beaver Dam officials say their rescue personnel “packaged” the patient into a harness and set up a rope system to lower the patient to an exterior catwalk approximately 20 to 30 feet down the outside wall of the dryer. The patient was then treated by paramedics from Madison before being transferred to a sky lift, lowered to the ground and eventually taken by MedFlight to UW Hospital in Madison. No word yet on the condition of the worker.
