Work Progressing On 2025 Mayville Budget

(Mayville) Work on the 2025 budget in the city of Mayville is progressing on schedule.

“I presented…a couple of weeks ago…the mayor’s budget to the city council…they’re reviewing different sections of it now so they can make adjustments and go forward,” says Mayor Rob Boelk. “So, we believe by the first week in November we’ll have everything set in stone and ready to be submitted to the state for adoption.”

Boelk says he does anticipate an increase in taxes next year.

“About [a] 1.6-percent increase which is nine-cents per thousand [dollars],” says Boelk. “You never want to raise taxes but sometimes you have no alternatives. So, on a $250,000 house we estimated it somewhere between $22 to $23 on a $250,000 house… your taxes for the city will be going up.”

Boelk adds that the city council expects to adopt a balanced budget for 2025, with a few departments needing to make cuts including public works and the library.
