(CAMPBELLSPORT) A late-night crash on a rural Fond du Lac County highway sent a young woman to a Milwaukee hospital with serious injuries.
Deputies say the crash happened just after 9:20 p.m. Sunday on County Highway W near Industrial Parkway, outside the Village of Campbellsport. Authorities were alerted by an automatic crash notification and rushed to the scene along with local fire crews, ambulances, and a medical helicopter.
Investigators say the driver was heading north when her vehicle failed to make a curve. The car left the roadway, went down an embankment and slammed into a tree.
The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was flown by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee with serious injuries. Deputies say she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and believe alcohol may have played a role.
The crash remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
