(Dodge County) The 2024 Wisconsin deer gun harvest was able to overcome a slow start. Department of Natural Resources Deer Program Specialist Jeff Pritzl says numbers have improved compared to 2023.
“We’re up a little bit from last year overall, statewide, about five-percent and even a little bit ahead of and real close to the five-year average,โ says Pritzl. โSo given the late start of the gun season, that’s about really as good as I think we could have expected.”
Preliminary numbers also showed about a 2.5-percent increase in the number of licensed hunters this year compared to 2023.
During the traditional nine-day gun season, a total of 3,083 deer were harvested in Dodge County. Just over one-thousand-five-hundred were antlered deer while 1,529 were antlerless. During all seasons in 2024, there were 4,716 total deer harvested in Dodge County.ย
