(Wisconsin) The CDC has released a new measure for determining COVID community levels. Dr. Ryan Westergaard with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services explains that now takes into account hospitalizations and hospital capacity in addition to infection numbers.
He says (quote)…โwe should think about COVID-19 prevention in general . . . in a way that it doesnโt just effect our health, it effects our communities, and that itโs not in our interest . . . for out health care systems to be overwhelmed.โ
He says masks remain one of the effective public health COVID prevention strategies, and that hospital capacity varies in communities across Wisconsin.
Dodge and Fond du Lac counties are in a low COVID community level which means masks are not recommended. Face coverings are recommended in public settings if a county reaches high COVID community level.
