Wisconsin DOT Approves EV Hybrid Stickers

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will begin sending new EV Hybrid stickers to owners of electric and hybrid vehicles, as required by recent legislation.

The new law is requiring that orange and black colored โ€œEV Hybridโ€ stickers get attached to the license plate of each electric or hybrid vehicle. Wisconsin recorded nearly 146,000 electric and hybrid vehicles in 2023. This law was approved in 2023 for the safety of first responders when they are encountering electric powered vehicles in emergency situations. The orange and black sticker will serve as an identifier for the vehicles with electric components.

All of the current electric and hybrid vehicle owners who have a valid registration should be receiving their stickers in the mail by June. These stickers will be sent automatically, so there is no need to contact the DMV to request them. For standard-sized license plates, the sticker should be attached to the upper right-hand corner of each plate, just to the right of the bolt holes.
