WISCONSIN – Wisconsin drivers now have a new specialty license plate option tied to one of the state’s best-known car events.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the Division of Motor Vehicles is now offering a special license plate featuring the Iola Car Show. The plate is connected to Iola Car Show, Inc., the organization that coordinates the Iola Car Show and Swap Meet.
WisDOT says the event has been held annually for more than 50 years and serves as a fundraiser for about 120 nonprofit, civic, and community organizations. The show draws around 120,000 participants each year and has an annual economic impact of more than $30 million.
The required donation that comes with the plate will go toward the organization’s charitable contributions. WisDOT says the show has issued more than $10 million in direct funding to its volunteer organizations.
Fees for the specialty plate include a $25 contribution to the organization, a one-time $15 issuance fee, the regular vehicle registration fee, and any applicable wheel tax. The contribution may be tax deductible. Drivers may personalize the plate for an additional $15 each year.
The Iola Car Show plate joins Wisconsin’s list of 70 specialty license plates. Plates can be viewed and ordered online through the Wisconsin DMV special plates system or ordered by mail. Plates are mailed to customers.
