Wholesale Dealer License Revoked For Committing Odometer Fraud

(Arlington) A wholesale dealer in Columbia County had their license revoked for committing odometer fraud. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says the license for Motorworks LLC, located at 101 Skyline Drive in Arlington, was revoked effective in May.

While the revocations occurred earlier, under state law dealers are afforded 30 days to appeal. However, the appeal period has now passed.

The order, issued by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Division of Motor Vehicles, determined that Motorworks violated state law when they sold vehicles to customers with a retail dealer license. The business also purchased vehicles with high milage, rolled back the odometers, altered titles to reflect the lower mileage, and provided false odometer statements to customers.

The Department of Transportation’s Dealer and Agent Section licenses, regulates, and resolves disputes about dealership sales and warranty repairs. It also investigates complaints about odometer tampering and title fraud involving dealerships and private sellers.
