The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association presented awards at its annual convention and clinic, where Curt Gruenewald—former Beaver Dam High School coach and teacher—was honored with the 50-Year Coaching Award for his dedicated service to the game of football.
Gruenewald began his coaching career at Homestead High School in Mequon, Wisconsin, in the fall of 1976. In 1985, he joined the Beaver Dam School District, where he taught and coached until his retirement in 2015. During his time at Beaver Dam High School, he also served as both a head and assistant coach for the boys’ and girls’ track and field programs, and he continues to contribute to the sport as a WIAA track and field official.
In addition to football and track, Gruenewald was an assistant wrestling coach at Beaver Dam and currently serves as an event manager. Since 2015, he has taken on an expanded leadership role with the Beaver Dam Youth Football Program and continues to serve as the league coordinator.
Coach Gruenewald says he would like to thank his fellow coaches, athletes, families, and administrators for 50 years of support and countless memorable experiences.
