WBEV Named Station of the Year By State Broadcasters Association

(Beaver Dam) WBEV was named the Station of the Year by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association over the weekend. Your Hometown Station AM1430 took home three major recognitions and a dozen first place awards among small market radio stations in the state.

In addition to Station of the Year, we took home the trophy for News Operation of the Year and Digital and Social Media Operation of the Year.

WBEV won for Best Newscast while DailyDodge.com was named Best Website and the DailyDodge Facebook page got Best Use of Social Media. Green and Gold Today was named Best Sportscast.

The Good Karma Brands-owned radio station took home first place awards for our coverage of prostitution uncovered in Dodge County strip clubs and a fatal apartment fire last spring.

Our story about a Beaver Dam teacher who won a trip to the Grammy’s on the Ellen show was recognized as Best News Feature.

Twelve-year-old Cassidy Warmbold took home two first place awards: one for her news feature on the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre’s summer Tell-A-Tale production and another one for Best Public Service Announcement for a PSA she voiced for the Greater Watertown Community Health Foundation.

Brenda Murphy was named Best Online Personality while her Idea Exchange won Best Radio Show.

And finally, the Singing Eye Doctors of Vita Park Eye Associates have eight consecutive first-place trophies in a category entitled Best Client Recorded Commercials. The WBA’s however eliminated that category this year. So instead, Dr. Jay and Dr. Tom took home the gold in the category of Best Commercial, beating out radio professionals from around the state.
