Wayland’s Nenadic Wraps Up Rowing Season In National Semifinals

Wayland Academy junior Aleksa Nenadic capped off an impressive season with a top-10 finish at the 2026 Scholastic National Rowing Championship Regatta in Oak Ridge, Tennessee this weekend.

The Serbia native advanced to the national semifinals after a strong performance in Friday’s preliminary heats. Nenadic placed fifth in his semifinal race and finished 10th overall, narrowly missing a spot in the national finals.

“Out boat was manufactured in 2010 versus a lot of newer technology in recent years,” Big Red rowing coach Seth Ahlborn said. “We are very pleased with the performance. A little disappointed that the season has ended, but Aleksa is a junior among seniors here and we’ll be back. He’s also a lightweight competing in a mainly heavyweight field. There’s more speed ahead, and he’ll train toward the Serbian National Team when he returns home Monday. Thanks for all the support!”

Nenadic qualified for nationals earlier this spring by earning a bronze medal at the Midwest Scholastic Regatta in Milford, Michigan. He was one of only 18 rowers nationwide to qualify for the championship event.
