Wayland Academy Earns Top AP Honor

(BEAVER DAM) More Wayland Academy students are taking college-level classes — and succeeding at them.

The Beaver Dam school has been named to the College Board’s Advanced Placement School Honor Roll, earning Platinum status, the highest level of recognition. It also received the AP Access Award for expanding opportunities to students from a range of backgrounds.

The recognition highlights schools where students are not only enrolling in Advanced Placement courses, but also performing well and preparing for college.

At Wayland, more than half of students took at least one AP exam during the last school year. In total, students completed 257 exams, with three out of four earning a score high enough to potentially receive college credit.

School leaders say the results reflect both strong teaching and a commitment to making advanced coursework accessible.

The AP program allows high school students to take college-level classes in dozens of subjects, helping them build skills and, in some cases, earn credit before they even graduate.
