(Ripon) A Waupun man was killed following a two-vehicle crash in Fond du Lac County Thursday morning. The Wisconsin State Patrol and first responders were called to Highway 26 at Hickory Road near Ripon around 3:30am.
A preliminary investigation shows that an attached semi-truck tractor was traveling northbound on 26 when it crossed left of center, striking a southbound passenger van.
The operator of the van, a 59-year-old Waupun man, was fatally injured as a result of the crash. The operator of the semi, a 29-year-old man from California, was not injured.
Authorities say both individuals were wearing their seatbelts. Names are being withheld pending notification of family.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the crash, which will include a post-crash inspection of the semi and a reconstruction of the entire crash scene.
