Waupun Man Charged With Making Threats Towards Police

(Beaver Dam) A Waupun man has been charged with making threats towards law enforcement. Reyes Gomez is facing a felony count stemming from the December 13th incident. Just after 3am, a sheriff’s deputy responded to a report of two suspicious vehicles on Frances Lane in the Town of Beaver Dam. Gomez was allegedly the operator of one of the cars and, according to the criminal complaint, appeared to be under the influence. A preliminary breath test reportedly returned a reading of point-zero-seven-nine (.079). Despite being under the legal limit, authorities arrested Gomez for first offense OWI based on his alleged struggles through field sobriety testing and difficulty speaking. While being transported to the jail, Gomez reportedly made violent threats towards a sheriff’s deputy. If convicted, the 23-year-old faces no more than six years in prison. A signature bond was set at $1,000 dollars and a judge will decide next month if there is enough evidence to order a trial.
