(OAKFIELD) A 44-year-old Waupun man was hurt Thursday after falling about 12 to 14 feet from a tree stand while deer hunting in a public hunting area, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were called around 3:44 p.m. after a family member reported the man had regained consciousness on the ground with facial injuries.
Dispatchers were later able to reach the hunter directly, helping rescuers pinpoint his location in a DNR hunting area on Towne Road, north of Highway 151. Deputies found the man and helped the Oakfield Fire Department transport him by UTV to a nearby parking lot.
He was taken by Lifestar Ambulance to a local hospital with injuries described as minor. Sheriff’s officials say the man was not wearing a safety harness at the time of the fall.
