(Waupun) A Waupun Memorial Hospital registered nurse was recently recognized for her work. Heather Abel received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The award gives credit to individuals willing to go the extra mile to care for patients and families daily.
Abel was nominated by a patient’s family who thanked her for taking care of their grandmother in hospice. Vice President-Clinical Administrator Nicole Gill presented Abel with the DAISY Award during a brief ceremony at Waupun Memorial Hospital.
The DAISY Foundation is a not-for-profit organization started in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Barnes passed away at the age of 33, but his family was so satisfied with the care they received that they wanted to come up with a way to thank nurses for their exceptional work.
