(Springvale) The Waupun Fire Department assisted at a garage fire in the township of Springvale Wednesday evening. The fire at W11079 Davis Road was reported at around 5:49pm.
A number of agencies, including Waupun Fire, were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters found a detached garage that was emitting heavy smoke. Due to the quick response, the blaze was extinguished before substantial damage was caused to the building and items inside.
The 26-by-80-foot garage sustained damage to its wood frame roof. The property owner, Michael Montey, told deputies that he had stoked a wood stove inside the garage earlier in the evening, he then left the property. Upon returning he discovered a wood pile near the stove had caught fire.
There were no reports of citizen or emergency personnel injured during the incident. Authorities say at this time, the fire is not suspicious in nature.
