Waupun Correctional Inmate Heading To Trial On Attempted Homicide Charge

(Waupun) A Waupun Correctional inmate facing Attempted First-Degree Intentional Homicide charges is heading to trial. William Lasalle waived his right to a preliminary hearing on the felony charge as well as felony Aggravated Battery stemming from the January 24th incident.

According to the complaint, prison staff were called to a cell that Laselle was in for a reported stabbing. When they arrived, they observed the other occupant of the cell lying on his back in the top bunk bed with blood on and around him.

While the victim was being assessed by medical personnel, officers observed multiple puncture wounds including on his right arm, chest, and left foot. The individual was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

In total, there were five puncture wounds and approximately three lacerations. When investigators went to question Lasalle, he reportedly refused to speak with law enforcement.

If convicted, the 49-year-old faces up to an additional 75 years in prison. An arraignment hearing is scheduled for May 14th.ย
