(Watertown) A number of Watertown High School and Middle School students recently won big at this year’s SkillsUSA National Workforce Development Event. The annual SkillsUSA conference for middle school, high school, and college-level students – who are members of SkillsUSA – was a showcase of the best career and technical education (CTE) students in the nation.
Students competed in more than 100 different trade, technical and leadership events, working against the clock, proving their expertise in occupations such as electronics, computer-aided drafting, precision machining, medical assisting, and culinary arts.
Watertown High School students Rebecca Leis, Hayden Leonard, and Emma Schwantes won gold medals in the chapter display.
Riverside Middle School students Caleb Domer and Isaac Manchester also won gold for urban search and rescue in the robotics category.
SkillsUSA Wisconsin sent 116 students to participate at the national workforce event, representing 40 schools. Officials with the organization say students consistently demonstrated expertise and professionalism while participating in a variety of leadership and competitive experiences.
They add that their vision is to produce the most highly skilled workforce in the world, providing every member the opportunity for career success.
