Vida Vande Slunt

Vida Vande Slunt, 67, of Waupun passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.

 

Vida was born January 14, 1954 in the United Kingdom, the daughter of Juozas and Antanina Medeles Urbonas. When she was 14 years old Vida, her mother, and sister immigrated to the United States and resided in Chicago. In 1972 she married George Lucas and they moved to Randolph in 1975. Vida moved to Waupun in 1980 and on November 1, 1980 she married Dennis Vande Slunt in Waupun. Vida was employed at Ripon College for 25 years in faculty administration and retired in 2014. Vida was active in theatre production from high school, Ripon College, and with Waupun Community Players. Music was a huge part of her life, along with love and devotion to her family. She spent much time at the hockey rink, watching her children participate. She enjoyed traveling and cooking Lithuanian meals for family and friends. Vida was proud of her Lithuanian heritage.

 

Vida is survived by her husband of 41 years, Dennis Vande Slunt of Waupun; sons: Chris (Jenny) Lucas of Menasha, Mike (Lisa) Vande Slunt of Waupun, and Adam (Katie) Vande Slunt of Waupun; grandchildren: Brynn Bersch and Avery Vande Slunt, Max, Sophie, and Stella Vande Slunt, and Katelyn, Sara, and William Siler.

 

Vida was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

 

Funeral services for Vida Vande Slunt will be held Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun with Pastor Mike Giebink officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Please follow CDC guidelines for mask wearing and social distancing.
