Underage Beaver Dam Woman In Court For Bloody Bar Fight

(Beaver Dam) A 20-year-old Beaver Dam woman made her initial appearance in Dodge County court Monday for allegedly slashing open the face of a bar patron with a beer glass. Topacio Calderon is charged with felony Substantial Battery and misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct for the incident that happened in the early morning hours after Christmas Day at Johnny’s Lounge in Beaver Dam. According to the criminal complaint, the victim approached Calderon and a friend because she felt they were talking about her and an argument broke out. That’s allegedly when Calderon threw a beer bottle at the victim’s head and smashed a beer glass in her face, resulting in a laceration. Calderon contends the victim made a racist comment and threw something at her first. The fight resulted in points being assessed against Johnny’s Lounge at a time when the Madison Street tavern is already fighting a 15-day suspension for a different fight. If convicted, Calderon faces nearly four years in prison. A signature bond was set at $1000 yesterday (Monday) and a judge will decide in April if there is enough evidence to order a trial.
