(FOND DU LAC) A Fond du Lac High School student faces charges after police say they caught him with a handgun Thursday.
Fond du Lac Police say they started getting reports of someone with a gun in their pants waistband near the Fond du Lac High School pond over the noon hour. He took off running after they arrived at 12:45. They caught up with him after a short chase, and found a nine-millimeter handgun and an ammunition magazine nearby. He was arrested without incident.
Meanwhile, police say an unrelated threat to the Fond du Lac STEM Academy turned out not credible. The school went on lockdown at about 11 a.m. After a sweep of the building, the lockdown was lifted shortly at approximately 1:37 p.m.
