(Fond du Lac) Two Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office cruisers were damaged in a six-and-a-half-mile pursuit early Sunday morning. A deputy attempted a traffic stop for a speed violation around 12:40am in the Town of Fond du Lac. The vehicle accelerated away towards Highway 151, ignoring emergency lights. Authorities were able to successfully deploy tire deflation devices and the suspect’s tires loss air pressure, eventually the driver side tires came apart. The chase continued, with the suspect driving on the vehicle’s two passenger side tires at a high rate of speed. Law enforcement utilized a vehicle intervention technique, or a PIT maneuver, which forced the suspect to exit his car and flee on foot. The 18-year-old Fond du Lac teen was quickly found and taken into custody. He is facing criminal charges of Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer and Recklessly Endangering Safety and was cited for speeding and fleeing. He was the only occupant of the suspect vehicle. There were no injuries reported during the pursuit.
