Two Beaver Dam Firefighters Promoted To Lieutenant

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Fire Department is highlighting the promotion of two of their firefighters. Jake Zemlicka-Retzlaff has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant. Zemlicka-Retzlaff is a six year veteran of the Beaver Dam Fire Department and has served as a firefighter, paramedic, and EMT for the Antigo Fire Department, Berlin EMS, Germantown Fire, and the Mayville Fire Department and EMS. He also has more than 11 years of experience in fire and emergency medical services. Officials with the Beaver Dam Fire Department say Zemlicka-Retzlaff has invested a great deal of time into his professional development, earning an Associate Degree as a Fire Protection Technician from Waukesha County Technical College and his Paramedic certification from Fox Valley Technical College. Also promoted to lieutenant, Firefighter Eric Theel, who has been with the department for 13 years. Theel also served as a firefighter and paramedic for the Elkhart Lake Fire Department, Bell EMS, and the Road American Safety Team. He has over 20 years of experience in fire and emergency services. Officials say Theel is very active in the department as a Health and Safety Officer, CPR Instructor, and has successfully written several grants related to health and safety. A swearing-in ceremony for both is scheduled for November 9th at 6:30pm at the Beaver Dam Fire Department.
