Tuesday Is Primary Election Day In Dodge County

(Juneau) Dodge County voters will head to the polls Tuesday for an August Primary Election. As it is a Partisan Primary, the public is reminded that they can only vote in one partyโ€™s primary. Once a party is chosen, votes cast in any other party will not be counted. This vote does not elect a candidate for office. The individual with the highest number of votes becomes nominated and is placed on the November ballot.

In our listening area, there is a contested Republican race for Assembly District 37. Representative Mark Born is the incumbent.

โ€œItโ€™s an incredible honor to represent these communitiesโ€ฆI donโ€™t take that lightlyโ€ฆI work hard and take the responsibility seriously,โ€ says Born. โ€œFrom my very first campaign, and every two years after that, Iโ€™ve always said the same stuffโ€ฆIโ€™m going to take the common-sense conservative values of this district to Madison. Itโ€™s easy to campaign on that because I can look at the record and show folks thatโ€™s exactly what Iโ€™ve done. You know what youโ€™re getting with meโ€ฆregardless of what lies youโ€™re being told by other people or other campaign rhetoric. Itโ€™s pretty straight-lacedโ€ฆI tell the truthโ€ฆI work hard for you.โ€

Steve Rydzewski is the challenger.

โ€œI just think I am the right man for the job at this point in our history,โ€ says Rydzewski. โ€œI certainly have worked hard my entire life and served our community in different waysโ€ฆand I just think the intangibles that I bring to the legislatureโ€ฆhaving already been down thereโ€ฆhaving already testified and try to speak up for the people in our districtโ€ฆobviously, being out in the communities and meeting the people and hearing what they have to sayโ€ฆI just really think Iโ€™m the right man for the job to represent us.โ€

There will also be two state referenda questions on the ballot. One will ask voters if the constitution should ban the Legislature from delegating its power of the purse. The other will ask if the governor can spend federal money without the Legislatureโ€™s approval.

The polls will be open from 7am to 8pm. Click HERE to find your polling place.
