(Juneau) Dodge County voters will head to the polls Tuesday for an August Primary Election. As it is a Partisan Primary, the public is reminded that they can only vote in one partyโs primary. Once a party is chosen, votes cast in any other party will not be counted. This vote does not elect a candidate for office. The individual with the highest number of votes becomes nominated and is placed on the November ballot.
In our listening area, there is a contested Republican race for Assembly District 37. Representative Mark Born is the incumbent.
โItโs an incredible honor to represent these communitiesโฆI donโt take that lightlyโฆI work hard and take the responsibility seriously,โ says Born. โFrom my very first campaign, and every two years after that, Iโve always said the same stuffโฆIโm going to take the common-sense conservative values of this district to Madison. Itโs easy to campaign on that because I can look at the record and show folks thatโs exactly what Iโve done. You know what youโre getting with meโฆregardless of what lies youโre being told by other people or other campaign rhetoric. Itโs pretty straight-lacedโฆI tell the truthโฆI work hard for you.โ
Steve Rydzewski is the challenger.
โI just think I am the right man for the job at this point in our history,โ says Rydzewski. โI certainly have worked hard my entire life and served our community in different waysโฆand I just think the intangibles that I bring to the legislatureโฆhaving already been down thereโฆhaving already testified and try to speak up for the people in our districtโฆobviously, being out in the communities and meeting the people and hearing what they have to sayโฆI just really think Iโm the right man for the job to represent us.โ
There will also be two state referenda questions on the ballot. One will ask voters if the constitution should ban the Legislature from delegating its power of the purse. The other will ask if the governor can spend federal money without the Legislatureโs approval.
The polls will be open from 7am to 8pm. Click HERE to find your polling place.
