(FOND DU LAC) A Fond du Lac woman will spend decades in prison for a deadly robbery plot that ended with the stabbing death of a 33-year-old mother during a drug deal in 2024.
Annaka Trudell was sentenced Thursday to 35 years in prison followed by 20 years of extended supervision after being convicted of First-Degree Reckless Homicide and Armed Robbery in the death of Ashley Ann Calo.
According to the Fond du Lac County District Attorneyโs Office, Trudell and co-defendant Dawson Miller arranged to meet Calo to buy 57 opioid pills for $250 but instead planned to rob her.
Investigators said the confrontation turned violent in a parking lot near Johnson and Main streets on Feb. 13, 2024. The criminal complaint says Trudell stabbed Calo during a struggle after attempting to take the pills without paying for them.
Police responding to the scene found Calo unconscious after her vehicle crashed nearby. Her young child was still inside the vehicle but was not hurt.
An autopsy found Calo suffered multiple stab wounds, including one that pierced her lung and heart.
Court documents say Miller helped arrange the drug deal and told Trudell to bring knives โjust in caseโ because they planned to steal the pills. Trudell later told investigators she โdidnโt mean to kill herโ after learning Calo had died.
Miller was previously sentenced to 30 years in prison and 15 years of extended supervision after being convicted of felony murder in the case.
