Town Of Oak Grove Girl Given Commendation For Life-Saving Efforts

(Beaver Dam) Local emergency responders took time Tuesday to recognize the efforts of a nine-year-old girl who helped save her mother’s life. Izabella Stillwell remembered training she had received from her grandmother and immediately called 9-1-1 after watching her mother have a medical emergency and go unconscious. The Town of Oak Grove girl gave dispatchers very clear and specific, life-saving information — including her address and phone number. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, Beaver Dam Fire Department paramedics and Juneau EMS arrived on scene and they were able to revive Izabella’s mother.

Sheriff Dale Schmidt presented Izabella with a commendation during her class at Martial Arts America in Beaver Dam. The commendation reads that “It is important to recognize Izabella for her actions as she took the necessary steps to save her mother’s life. Izabella is a hero, not only to her mom but also to her younger brothers and sister. Izabella made sure that their mom would survive and be there for them as they all grow up.”
