(Waupun) Three Waupun correctional officers were transported to Waupun Memorial Hospital after an incident at Waupun Correctional Institution, a maximum security prison in Waupun. A source tells WXRO/WBEV that the incident happened within the health service unit where the officers were assaulted by one of the institutions inmates. The extent of injuries sustained by the correctional officers is unknown at this time. Described as a serious attack on correctional staff, this incident comes as reports show that overtime for area corrections officers is up 50% as staffing levels continue to trend below projected needs.
