Theresa Man Sentenced To Ten Years In Prison For Assaulting A Minor

(Theresa) A Theresa man was sentenced to ten years in prison Friday for assaulting a minor. In February, Chris Christianson entered a no contest plea to an amended felony count of First Degree Child Sexual Assault of a Person Under Age 13. The incident occurred while the victim was visiting the area in August of 2019 and she alerted her mother shortly after. Upon learning of the accusations in August, the 62-year-old attempted suicide at the Interstate 41 northbound wayside. He survived and admitted his actions to investigators, saying that he may have touched the minor while he was attempting to turn off the TV. During sentencing, Assistant District Attorney James Sempf said the defendant was in a position to protect the child’s innocence but instead he took it away. Christianson was also placed on extended supervision for 15 years.
