(ELDORADO) A high-speed chase in Fond du Lac County ended with a crash and two people hurt early Wednesday morning, authorities said.
A sheriff’s deputy tried to stop a speeding vehicle just before 4 a.m. along County Highway N near Townline Road in the Town of Eldorado. Instead of pulling over, the driver sped off, turning onto Townline Road and reaching speeds around 100 miles per hour, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
The chase continued onto Subway Road, where the deputy briefly lost sight of the vehicle. Moments later, the car was found crashed in a ditch along the road.
Both people inside were taken into custody at the scene without further incident.
The driver, a 19-year-old man from Van Dyne, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. After being treated and released, he was booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail. He faces charges including fleeing an officer, recklessly endangering safety and driving after revocation.
A 16-year-old passenger from Fond du Lac was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries and later released to a parent.
Authorities say the pursuit lasted about two miles. Police from North Fond du Lac and the Wisconsin State Patrol assisted at the scene.
