Sun Prairie Man Charged In Dodge County OWI Injury Crash

(Westford) A Sun Prairie man is accused of injuring another motorist in a drunk driving accident. Daniel Pickhardt is charged with one felony count of misdemeanor Operating While Intoxicated Second Offense Causing Injury along with misdemeanor counts of Possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The crash occurred Wednesday around 5pm in the Town of Westford. Pickhardt apparently lost control of his truck on County Road G and spun out. He was then rear-ended by a woman who complained of back pains and said she would be going to the doctor the following day. Pickhardt had a blood alcohol level that was allegedly twice the legal limit for driving at point-one-six-eight (.168). If convicted of the felony charge, the 55-year-old could spend up to six years in prison. A signature bond was set at $1000 yesterday and a judge will decide next month if there is enough evidence to order a trial.
