St. Katharine Drexel To Reopen In April Following Renovation Work

(Beaver Dam) The reopening of a local historic church has been pushed back a month to wrap up the finishing touches of a multi-million-dollar renovation project. Two-years ago, St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Beaver Dam announced their “Building From Our Belief” campaign that looked to improve accessibility, enhance worship space and expand their facilities on South Spring Street. Fr. Mike Erwin says the hope was to be in the building by March 3rd but several important safety features needed to be competed first which included getting sprinkler heads in the right location. Erwin says the date has now been moved to April 3rd which will be in time for Holy Week and Easter. He adds that they should have occupancy of the building several weeks before that date. St. Katharine Drexel is still $600-thousand dollars short of the $4.2-million-dollar fundraising goal. Erwin says they are still accepting donations. He says sometime in late May or early June there will be an open house for the broader community to give them an opportunity to see how the building turned out. To donate, call 920-887-2082.
