SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital has earned a 5-star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
According to SSM Health, the rating recognizes hospitals for performance across several quality measures, including mortality, safety of care, readmissions, patient experience, and the timeliness and effectiveness of care.
Hospital officials say the rating places Waupun Memorial among 384 hospitals nationwide to receive five stars in 2026.
“Earning a CMS 5-Star Quality Rating is a tremendous honor and a reflection of the dedication our team members bring to their work every day,” DeAnn Thurmer, president of SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo, SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital, and SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital, said in the release.
Thurmer said the recognition reflects the hospital’s work to provide safe, compassionate care close to home.
Nicole Gill, vice president and clinical administrator for SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital and SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital, said the rating gives patients and families added confidence that they can receive care in their own community.
The CMS star rating system is designed to help patients and families compare hospitals when making health care decisions.
