(FOND DU LAC) Fond du Lac County is turning a potential liability into an asset. The UW-Oshkosh branch campus in Fond du Lac closed last year, after serving the community since 1968.ย County Executive Sam Kaufman says he didnโt want the land and its buildings to go to waste.
โMy goal was to make sure that it would not be a burden on taxpayers,โ Kaufman told Daily Dodge. โIt was really one goal โ to make the campus self-sustaining.โ
The former college campus now houses offices and a public safety training center. Thereโs a live entertainment center, and the gym is being used for community sports and recreation. Because of that, Kaufman says the campus will generate hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in revenue.
