7/14/17 – Dodge County Sherriff Dale Schmidt is warning employers to not turn a blind eye to drugs in the workplace. With the rising use of methamphetamines and opioids, he says a vast majority of jobs, specifically larger factories, have drugs at some level. Schmidt told us recently on WBEV’s Community Comment that owners or managers have rights to ensure their business is operated properly. He says he is willing to visit employers and supervisors to teach them how to conduct random drug screenings and how to handle these situations. The sheriff says employees who go to work high should know that there is a possibility that they could hurt themselves or others. He says it is important to remember when you are on company time, employees are expected to be at full capacity.
