Sex Trafficking Program Tuesday Evening In Beaver Dam

(Beaver Dam) A program Tuesday night in Beaver Dam will focus on the reality of sex trafficking in the region. The non-profit group 5-Stones Dodge County is hosting a community awareness event titled Hiding in Plain Sight. Tracy Scheffler with 5-Stones says their goal is to inform people that trafficking is not only happening in the big cities but is an issue in the rural communities.

Emmy Myers, who was a victim of sex trafficking seven years ago, will be sharing her story at the event. She says she will teach those in attendance the signs to look out for, what they can do and how social media plays a role.

Hiding in Plain Sight will be held at the Harvest Church on Highway 33 east of the city of Beaver Dam across from the fairgrounds. Refreshments and a meet and greet with Myers will begin at 5:30pm. The program gets underway at 6pm Tuesday and is open to the community.
