Sex Offender To Be Placed In Randolph

(Beaver Dam) A sex offender from Fox Lake is being placed in the Village of Randolph. 29-year-old Derick Van Beek, who was convicted of Second Degree Sexual Assault of a Child in 2012, will be residing at 437 Center Street when he will be paroled on April 23. The offenses occurred in 2010 and involved girls who were between the ages of 13 and 15-years-old. In one case, the victim tried to push Van Beek off of her. In another incident, the criminal complaint states that the victim resisted but Van Beek pushed her down and held her with his hands so that she could not get up. Van Beek will be under 24 hour electronic monitoring and will be supervised by agents specializing in intensive supervision. He will be a lifetime GPS client and must follow specific rule sets. Those include no unsupervised contact with minors, no bars or liquor stores as well as no longer consuming alcohol and drugs and he must comply with standard sex offender rules. Randolph Police Chief Michael Klavekoske says Van Beek has served the sentence imposed to him by the courts and is not wanted by police as this time. Klavekoske says abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated. He adds that this notification is not intended to increase fear but rather, it is his belief that an informed public is a safer public.
