(HORICON) The Hustisford school district has some difficult decisions to make this spring, but they’re not alone. With dwindling enrollment and state aid not keeping up with inflation, rural school districts all over Wisconsin have some difficult decisions to make soon.
“All of the (school) boards in our area are likely to start making some difficult decisions about how we move forward,” said Horicon Superintendent Katie Schwartz. “It’s a very emotional process. And also, we have to be thoughtful, and we have to be strategic.”
She said options include recruiting more open enrollment students, more partnerships with neighboring districts, and possible consolidations.
