GERMANTOWN, Wis. – Drivers in Washington County should prepare for a closure at WIS 145 and County G as construction begins on a new roundabout in Germantown.
Governor Tony Evers has approved a $1.7 million safety improvement project at the intersection of WIS 145 and County G, also known as Division Road, in the village of Germantown. Construction is scheduled to begin June 10, with Musson Brothers, Inc. serving as the prime contractor, according to the project announcement.
The work includes construction of a roundabout, along with new lighting, signs and pavement markings. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says the project is part of a Highway Safety Improvement Program effort at the intersection. WisDOT says the roundabout is intended to eliminate the existing skew of the intersection and improve safety by reducing the potential for severe crashes.
The intersection of WIS 145 and County G will be closed during construction. The posted detour will use WIS 167, I-41 and US 45. The village of Germantown says local access to businesses and residences will be maintained during the closure. Work is scheduled to be finished by fall 2026. The schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.
